Open Water Diver

Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology and basic scuba skills in a pool with a highly trained PADI Instructor. When you're ready, make four dives in an open water environment with your instructor supporting you every step of the way.

PADI® Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level. A highly-trained PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment. Group sizes at VIP are max. four people to make sure you get personal guidance and the best diving experience. By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and knowledge to dive at home or abroad and be an ambassador for the underwater world.

Minimum age: 10 years*

STINAPA Nature Fee

*Divers certified between the ages of 10-14 earn a Junior Diver certification. Junior Open Water Divers automatically become Open Water Divers at age 15.

Your dive experience

We kicked off by diving into scuba principles and terminology with PADI eLearning, which fit perfectly into my busy schedule. Our small group of four then moved to the pool at the VIP dive shop, practicing basic scuba skills with our PADI instructor.

After mastering the basics, our instructor led us on four amazing dives in Bonaire's open waters. We explored vibrant reefs and gained confidence with every dive. By the end, I proudly became a certified diver!

Our courses combine convenient online learning with practical in-water training. Start by completing the e-learning modules at your own pace, then join us for in-water sessions where our experienced instructors will guide you through essential diving skills.

PADI eLearning makes it easy to fit scuba lessons into a busy schedule. Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology whenever, wherever it's convenient for you.It's your course on your time. Study offline, or online using a computer or mobile device. Connect with your instructor whenever you have a question.

Diving with instructor

3 days - 4 dives

Practice using scuba gear in a pool (or pool-like environment) until you're comfortable. PADI training includes practice "mini dives" to help you build confidence in your new abilities before making four dives in open water.
