Tec 40 Instructors introduce divers to tec diving and open up the world of tec exploration to the next generation.

Diving beyond recreational depths with open-circuit technical gear has allowed tec divers to discover amazing underwater wrecks and photograph never-before-seen marine organisms. Tec 40 Instructors introduce divers to tec diving and open up the world of tec exploration to the next generation. When you earn this dive instructor rating, you can conduct PADI Discover Tec programs and teach the PADI Tec Basics and Tec 40 Diver courses.

Tec 45 Diver certification

25 EANx dives deeper than 30 metres/100 feet

10 decompression dives wearing full technical equipment

Succesfully complete the PADI Tec 40 Instructor course, practical applications and exams

Certified 25 divers
(No more than five from courses without dives, no more than five from PADI Seal Team or Master Seal Team registrations.)

Minimum of 20 decompression dives

At least one Tec 40 course assist

Course overview

Begin by completing the self-paced learning modules, then join us for a session where our experienced instructors will guide you through essential skills.

Training with instructor

2 days

The Tec 40 Instructor course ensures you have a good grasp of the courses you’ll teach and how to teach them. You’ll practice conducting knowledge development, practical application and workshop sessions, and open water teaching segments. Your PADI Tec 50 Trimix Instructor Trainer will also go over organization and marketing considerations for PADI TecRec courses. There is also an option to become a PADI Tec 40 Trimix Instructor.

Course assist

Assist with a Tec 40 Diver or Tec 40 Trimix Diver course with a PADI Tec 40 Instructor or Tec 40 Trimix Instructor, and act as a certified assistant during a complete Tec 40 Diver or Tec 40 Trimix Diver course. You can also assist with a PADI Tec 50 Instructor Trainer or Tec 50 Trimix Instructor Trainer, and act as a certified assistant during a simulated course that includes Tec 40 Training Dive One and Tec 40 Training Dive Three.
