TEC 45 (optional Trimix)

Extend your depth limit to 45m / 150ft. Learn to plan and execute repetitive decompression dives using a single stage/decompression cylinder.

The PADI TEC 45 course extends your depth limit to 45m / 150ft, teaching you to plan and execute single and repetitive decompression dives using a single decompression cylinder with up to 100% oxygen. You will use double cylinders in either back mount or sidemount configuration. TEC 45 is a prerequisite for TEC 50, with an option to earn a TEC 45 Trimix Diver certification.

‍Curious about the benefits of using Trimix gas, like decreased gas density and reduced narcosis? Tec 45 divers can also learn to use trimix with not less than 21% oxygen and not more than 35% helium. Ask your instructor what additional requirements you may need to complete for the Tec 45 Trimix option.

The PADI Tec 45 course is conducted in full technical diving gear.

Requirements

PADI TEC 40 diver*

PADI Rescue diver* **

Minimum age: 18 years

Minimum of at least 50 logged dives, incl. at least 12 dives using enriched air (Nitrox) at a depth deeper than 18m / 60ft and at least 6 dives deeper than 30m / 100ft (with or without Nitrox).

Training with instructor

4 days

Your Tec 45 training consists of four practical application sessions and four open water dives. Building on what you learned in the Tec 40 course, you will focus on additional techniques, procedures, and emergency skills. You will learn more advanced decompression, gas planning, decompression models, and fine-tune your thinking like a technical diver. Tec 45 Trimix students will also learn about diving trimix.
