TEC Sidemount

Wearing more than one tank has become increasingly popular for technical diving. With the TEC Sidemount diver course you can apply what you learn to other TECRec courses.

The PADI TEC Sidemount course refines your recreational sidemount diving skills and equips you with the procedures and techniques needed for technical dives, using a sidemount configuration with main tanks and two or more deco/stage cylinders.You'll get hands-on training during one confined water session and four open water dives where you'll start with two tanks and add at least two more, maybe even getting to six side-mounted cylinders.

The course is conducted in full technical sidemount gear, but is not a technical diving course.

What your course will look like

Course overview

Our courses combine convenient online learning with practical training. Start by completing the e-learning modules at your own pace, then join us for a session where our experienced instructors will guide you through essential skills.

Self-study

2-4 hours

Get the PADI Sidemount Diver and Tec Sidemount Diver Manual from your local PADI Dive Shop and start studying immediately.
‍
If you have a recreational sidemount diver certification, you'll focus on Chapters Two and Three, if not, you'll read the entire manual.

Training with instructor

1 confined water session + 4 dives

You'll learn about the advantages of diving with a sidemount configuration and how to set up a tec sidemount harness.

You’ll get an introduction to technical diving and learn about: managing gas with stage cylinders and deco cylinders, setting up and wearing stage cylinders and deco cylinders, sidemount diving with stage cylinders and deco cylinders, managing out-of-gas problems with stage/deco cylinders in sidemount.
