A few nights after the full moon, male ostracods (tiny marine organisms) create lights from within their bodies to attract the attention of female ostracods.
This magical show, of vertically-progressing light flashes, is only possible to see on a few places on earth. Luckily for our guests, Bonaire is one of them! One of our guests once said: “it’s like looking at a galaxy”, and that might just be the best way to describe this wonderful spectacle.
For doing an Ostracod night dive, we require previous night dive experience and good buoyancy control.
|Guided ostracod night dive||$59|
|Regular dive light||$12.50|
Prices per person per dive, not including dive gear, air and dive light.
“We just did an Ostracods night dive with VIP Diving. It was a magical experience. Well organised, with a solid briefing and well led. The ostracod experience is possible only a couple of days after full moon, but it is really worth it! Before and after, we did a regular night dive and saw a spotted eagle ray, a lion fish, a moray eel, a scorpion fish and a free running lobster.”
