PADI Tec 40

This is the first level of training in the PADI Tec Deep training program. Tec 40 is a limited, entry-level technical diving program that bridges the gap between recreational diving and full technical deep decompression diving.

Tec 40 consists of three knowledge development sections, three practical application sessions and four training dives. Designed for the diver transitioning from recreational diving to technical diving.

A PADI Tec 40 diver will learn:

  • Use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives
  • Use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50 percent oxygen (EANx50)
  • Technical diving risks and responsibilities
  • How to team dive
  • Emergency Procedures
  • How to configure and customize the technical rig
  • Think like a tec diver

NOTE: The course can be completed using equipment that is marginally more extensive than that used in mainstream recreational diving. Divers planning to continue their technical diving training in the PADI Tec 45 and PADI Tec 50 courses are strongly encouraged to complete the course in full technical diving gear.
